I'm a campaigner.

I walked through the doors of GetUp as a volunteer. 8 years later, I left as National Director. Along the way I learned from some of the best, and found myself running Australia's biggest digital campaigns.

In my three years as National Director, we grew the budget by over 300%, and brought on nearly 10,000 regular donors. With a team of 50 awesome developers, data-analysts, organisers, and campaigners, GetUp took on new frontiers. We formed powerful alliances to beat mining giant Adani in court; held the largest rallies in Australia on a few days notice; and unleashed thousands of member-led campaigns. We took on state elections for the first time, and made a demonstrably vote-changing difference to unseating Campbell Newman's Government.

I'm now consulting with some great start-ups and NGOs in Australia and overseas. Get in touch if you want to work together!

After a speaker, workshop, panelist, or an MC? I've been lucky to have some great experiences, like revving up 30,000 strong rallies; hosting city-talks for the City of Sydney; and getting my Kerry O'Brien on for Kevin Rudd's final interview as PM at Kirribilli.

Topics I'd love to speak on, and some videos of past events

At GetUp I learned from some of the best--and from 8 years of victories and mistakes too! Any success we had at GetUp came from putting members in the middle of every plan, and making their user-experience simple. I don't think the answer is for everyone to be more like GetUp, but I'd love to turn my mind, and apply that member-centred approach, to some new projects.

I'm not a full-time consultant, but I know some brilliant people who are. If I can't do it myself, or I know others could do it better, I'll help you find someone else in my network.

I've been a regular panelist on SKY Lunchtime Agenda, PVO Newshour, and The Drum. Get in touch if you're looking for a panelist or commentator. I'm based in Melbourne but often in Sydney.

The language barrier has made Campact a bit of a Galapagos island of online campaigning; they share roots with MoveOn and GetUp but have evolved some great ideas in near-isolation.
